"The whole power of the Sacrament of Penance consists in restoring us to God's grace and joining us with him in an intimate friendship." (CCC n.1468)
The Sacrament of Penance is God’s gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession, we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. First Reconciliation occurs during Year 2 of sacrament preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Reconciliation must occur before the celebration of First Holy Communion. Steps for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be covered in classes and are included in the Sacramental Preparation Handbook for home practice.
Due to the number of children participating in ESYM and STM School who will be celebrating the sacrament, we offer three back-to-back Penance Services at 9:00 am, 9:45 am, and 10:30 am. This format allows children to receive the sacrament in a relaxed and supportive environment without having to wait an extended amount of time.
