Major Accomplishments
Six-week sessions held in the fall, winter, and spring provide an opportunity for inactive Catholics to explore their faith, ask questions about God, Christ, the Church, Scripture, or any other relevant topics, and to consider how God might be calling them.
Major Activities
Awakening Faith sessions run three times per year, meeting one night a week for six weeks, providing a safe place for inactive Catholics to consider a return to the practice of their faith. Assistance is welcome by volunteers who are comfortable with their own faith but are able to be compassionate and humbly walk with those struggling to discern God’s call. Volunteers who themselves have spent time away from practice of their Catholic faith may be able to provide particular insight and assistance, although this is in no way a requirement.
Meeting Frequency
Six-week sessions are scheduled based on availability of meeting space and Deacon Troy’s schedule, but fall on either Monday or Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM. Sessions start in late September/early October, January, and late April/early May (following Easter).
Meeting Venue
Awakening Faith meetings take place either in the Youth House (if available), or in any available classroom on campus.
Estimated Time Commitment for Volunteers
A volunteer for a set of sessions should plan on six weekly 2-hour meetings.
Special Skills
Compassion, understanding of and comfort with fundamental Catholic practices
